Getting Started: Planning Your Reception at The Sterling Castle

I'm writing this blog to explain how to log in and pick out your music for your wedding reception when you book with DJ Shell or his DJ's at The Sterling Castle

Step 1

Enter the event date and the password provided into the grey and yellow box in the lower right hand corner.

Step 2

Click on my profile and provide some info so we can contact you if we have questions. Sometimes we may have several versions of songs, or the emcee may need a little help on how to pronounce someone's name in your wedding party.

Step 3

Click on my event and then click on your EVENT FORM FIRST. It's at the bottom right of the screen shot below. This is where you will fill in the blanks and give the DJ your key music requests for introductions, first dance, etc. Make sure to put the bridal party's names in the order that they will be announced into the room if applicable.

This is a sample Event Form

Step 4

Hit the event home button to save.

Once you've finished the event form, look directly above it to see the request music button. This is where you can request dinner music, dance music, or whatever else you want to hear. You don't have to provide the full 4 hours of music, our DJ's can fill in the rest once we know what you like. We can also read the crowd and fill in as needed. There is also a guest request button on the website that you can share with your guests. It works the same as yours, but doesn't give them access to your personal info. Details for that log in are provided on the bottom of your event form.

Thank You & Congratulations! We can't wait to serve you on your special day.

The "Shoe Game"

The Ice Breaker Game everyone pays attention to. It's fun and easy to do, usually done between cake cutting and the garter/bouquet toss. Here's how it works...

1. The bride and groom sit in chairs on the dance floor back to back.
2. They exchange one shoe each, so both have one female shoe and one male.
3. The DJ/MC asks the questions below and both the bride and groom raise the shoe of the person they believe to be the correct answer.

(this can also be done with pink and blue paddles or some other type of creative indicator of his/her answer)

Another great idea is to bring in the parents of the bride and groom if both are living and still married. All 3 couples can answer the questions together so the audience can see how a newly married couple compares to two that have been together for years. Usually the parents are brought in after the first few questions are answered by the newly weds.

A Great Idea!

Instead of sparklers or bubbles, the guest wrote well wishes on paper lanterns and launched them as the bride and groom exited the venue and made their way to the get away car!

Wish Lantern Orders

It was exciting for all of the guests and made for a beautiful back drop as the bride and groom left for their honeymoon.

These can be use in addition to a firework display to completely illuminate the sky for that perfect last picture of the reception.
